I don't think this is/was on in the USA

    WE WON!

    Austria was in the final?

    Naah, Russia & Canada.

Russia won. Lil Jon's homeboy Ilya Kovalchuk murdered it.

    No, I knew it was Russia/Canada - I just didn't
get why a guy from Austria posted "WE WON!"

Sounds like it was an ill game.

It was in Canada, too, right? That's tough.

Winning this is like coming up on a re-issue of skull snaps. The REAL championship is being played in about a week or so. I have some respect for the Worlds, but, at the same time, its a loser's tournament, staffed by players who couldn't get their teams past the 1st round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

    like the habs?

canada had some truly great players (heathley, nash, burns), they could have taken it but got too over-confident.

Dany Heatly is a great player, but he comes up lame in big games, just like his team the Ottawa Senators. I would have liked to see Joni Pitkanen suit up for the Finns.

Habs problem was that they have too many players on their team who rather play for the world championships than the Stanley Cup. If they had more Finns in their line up, they would be better off, though.

I didn't watch one period of this tournament.
    Good on ya, Russia.

must agree with everything the HAZer said thus far.

However, I would have watched this, especially to witness that nasty russian squad, if it was available to be viewed.

Bettman is a fuggin idiot. He should be doing everything in his power to get international hockey on US tv sets. All it can do is create interest in the game, which in turn will create interest for the NHL....and they could use it.

Im rooting for the pens in the finals. ef the deadwings. im a hawks fan...no way Im rooting for Detroitsucks, no way in hell.

wouldnt mind Turco winning the cup though.

one thing is for sure. NHL playoffs are way more interesting and entertaining then any other playoffs in sports.

Co-sign, although there were a LOT of one-sided series this year.

    Sweeps =

yeah, no doubt...but even a one sided matchup in hockey still has some amount of unpredictability to it.

man the nhl playoffs are my shit. did you know that statistically the team with home ice advantage actually has a better chance of losing? they only win like 46% of the time. its still close to winning half the time....but still that just shows that night in and night out you can't really tell whose gonna win. its a friggin toss up. you take an 8th seed and make there goalie hot and the 1 seed is friggin toast.

    Hope the finals goes 7!!!

I cant stand that guy avery but he does make for entertaining hockey. I was missing him today (although pitt is a more entertaining team overall)

Yeah, dude - in a way, nothing beats the first round
where there are 2 games or more on every single night.
I get so hooked on watching. It gets depressing when it's
the finals and there's just the one game every two nights
for (hopefully) 2 weeks and then nothing for 4 months.

Avery - I didn't even think about him at all until I went down
to NYC and hit a Rangers game last fall ... I realized this little
pest I didn't even consider was the most popular player on a team that
included Jagr, Shanahan, Drury, etc ... half the place was wearing
Avery jersies, and they would come alive whenever he was on the ice.
His antics are a little annoying/lame, but I've always liked the pest
dudes who can play their way onto a top line and finish off the plays
their more-skilled linemates set them up with, while managing to piss off
and distract the other team from checking those linemates.

Not enough to feed my need.
I'm barely playing once a week, too.

    Me too!

Wish we had enough guys in one place for a SS pickup game

    File that under: highly unlikely.
