    I had no idea it was a fashion now.

    Damn, William Gibson owns nerd style rights for the past 15 years, huh?

    From the vinyl motorcycle jackets with neon piping of Hackers to
    people rocking the 19th century highwaisted pants? Dude is an icon.

    So is " Time After Time " getting a deluxe DVD rerelease now?

    Is that the first "steampunk" movie? It's actually pretty good.

    And the Difference Engine is a really fine novel.
    It's aged better than his cyberpunk stuff, IMO.

    I did a burlesque show a few years ago with 3 girls and one of them is into this. We called it renaissance fair chic, but I guess "steampunk" works too.

    A couple of real difference engines have been built in the last ten years - nobody funded a serious attempt in the Victorian era, and it turns out there were some minor flaws in Babbage's original plans. But there's one in England and one in Silicon Valley now.
