That shit just came on TV right now. Frickin' so psyched. This movie is the shit. Not a weak link - RALPH Frickin' MACHIO! Dog, even Tom Cruise comes off in this shit.
interesting lil tidbit of fact but THE OUTSIDERS was made into a movie by suggestion of a 3rd grade class in sanger, ca (central valley cali) that my hammie NISH aka AFRO-PITS was in and it was huge fanfare and whatnots out here for it.
it had almost every famous or soon to be famous actor dude in it. I saw it in middle school I think and I thought it was awesome. I still think it's awesome. it's one of those perfect movies that you don't intend on watching on tv, but you catch it and you're excited and you'll stick around until the end.
Great movie, cool book, was pretty influential on me when I read it as youngster. My sis loved it so much she memorized the first page & could recite it at will...... I thought this thread was going to be about the band of the same name that recorded for Capitol in the 60s.

All S.E. Hinton books = pure awesomeness... i think if you read 'em all and then check out Tulsa by Larry Clark you have 60's OKLAHOMA dirtbag culture all wrapped up...
watched it this AM, even though I have seen this movie 20 some odd times, I hadnt seen in in over 20 years, great! When I was hanging out with Matt Dillon that time, I kept saying to myself, "Im hanging out with Dally Winston!"
I don't know if I would be able to hang out with Matt Dillon without trying to harass him into doing the "DO IT FOR JOHNNY" speech for me ... especially if there was drinking going on. "C'MON, DAL - I MEAN ... MATT"
I happened to catch some of VH1's "Celebra Cadabra" and I was thinking "who is that guy?" I knew he was some sort of child actor, but sheeeeit, it's Pony Boy.
Whether he's seen it or not, I've seen both films countless times, and they have pretty much NOTHING in common whatsoever.
yes they do. gang related. early (1979)80's made. terrific characters. just sayin.

Yeah she's so ill.
No, you really wouldn't ever say that.
Or better yet, the far superior Dutch band of the 60's ...

"Hey man you know the rules. No jazz before the rumble."
In the same vein, I watched Rumblefish the other night.
Slept on.
Tom Waits and Cage were really good in it.

Anyone read the book? Its as good as the movie, maybe even better, as they always say....
I hired this shit out last year... watched it back to back with the Wanderers....
Imagine they do one of them Hollywood updated remakes of it today... who would play the parts?
Dude....I will sing Stay Gold at your High School Graduation.

Otherwise known as Soul Man...
SE Hinton was a rockstar to me when I first found her books.
That Was Then, This Is Now is another great book, but the movie was trash!
Also, she had cameos in the movies - Darry's nurse in The Outsiders and one of the hookers in Rumble Fish.
