Living the dream in Portugal

Another solid work/DJ trip... this time in Faro, Portugal for Orange Partner Camp. I can't really call it two worlds colliding anymore as it's pretty much the deal now that when I go to these events, I DJ the party. What a sweet deal!4 days of non stop work and fun... I literally didn't sleep the whole time I was there. I stopped in Dublin for 8 hours on the way there and visited the Guiness and Jameson factories... naturally. The airline lost my luggage so I was the smelly guy wearing the same thing the whole time, but no matter. We were the platinum sponsors of the event which gave us a lot of sessions, a solid booth setup and of course planning the party. We hired 12 Capoeira dancers and 4 fire jugglers for a show as well as a painted lady passing out shots. Given the theme, I played a lot of Brazilian music to go along with the funk and soul hotness. People responded to it very well and once again looked surprised that the guy they were talking business to earlier was the DJ :-)Arriving at the 5 star hotel... beautiful place with incredible service. The opening Pow Wow for the event. The three smartest guys at the event :-)The booth was my domain for the most part. Nice and comfortable unlike usual.People kept coming by to lounge... dude on the left was passed out on the couch the whole time.Another event T-shirt... I have hundreds now.The team gives a session.Cocktails by the pool after day 1.Guitar dudes. Some floor games.Party time with the sounds of DJ Ferrari!Pouring the shots... yum.And why not?The shots went fast cuz everyone felt the need to have one with the DJ.This one I was okay with. It's not fair when you're this funny :-)Getting the corporate crowd dancing is impossible. Luckily I had one... my new friend from Sevilla. This is when things got awesome.Forming the circle. So dope... now I'm motivated to go to some classes. What fire themed party would be complete without fire dancers? What an awesome time! We also hit up the nearby beach, a local casino and club, but no pictures there. 24 hours of travelling to get back to the ol' office. I am still tired :-)

Same girl... she was a total sweetheart. I wasn't sure if she was so nice to me because she liked me or beacause she wanted to sell me her software. I think it's a bit of both! It's funny... as the coolest guy at these conferences, I always hit it off with the hottest girl there. Good times
hope you got some rekkids to round out that international mixx !

SO JEALOUS. Looks like you're having a blast.
I'm a mega insomniac so it's fairly normal for me to always be awake and tired. Plus, I should be legally insane anyway by just being me
And no no help from outside substances in case anyone was assuming!
I love that your djing and capoeira interest converged in one evening at 'work'
bottom line:you MUST now go to brazil
Being the DJ at an event like this with so many suits must be the best seat in the house
I know, I wouldn't mind seeing her roll out that product line, wakka wakka wakka!
Hope my unit has enough hard drive! nyuk nyuk.
Sorry, I'm done now.
Duuuude, I know! I am eligible for a month long sabattical, but I don't know when I can fit it in cuz I have one or more of these events pretty much every month. Believe me, I'm working on it! I'll let you know... how much longer you gonna be down there?
So I don't work at Palm... I work(ed) at PalmSource, which was the OS side of Palm when it was 2 companies, and we were purchased by ACCESS, a Japanese mobile software company, about 2 years ago. The company history can get a bit confusing when you bring in the Palm OS discussion. We still support our implementations of Palm OS, but our focus is on our new Linux based platform first coming soon on a Samsung device on the Orange network.
The sad thing is that I totally understand all of this. Damn stupid job. I need a vacation.
Haha... just keeping up with the technology and companies of the mobile industry can be a full time job, huh?
