Anti Virus software recommendation needed

Can anybody recommend me a good FREE anti virus program? I have been using the NOD32 trial version for over a year. I had to reinstall it every month but it worked fine. It seems they have changed the trial version and it no longer updates.Thanks a lot for the info!
