Got the e-mail today:Hello, vinyl merchants! The next WMUC Record Swap is set and confirmed for Saturday, April 12! We're going to do it in the same room (The Atrium) as before, plus we're expanding into the adjacent Prince George's Room - similar, but a little smaller. Similar arrangement, but we'll have about 50 tables available this time. We're going to keep the price low - $25 per table. All proceeds go to benefit WMUC 88.1 FM, the DC area's last true college radio station. We are taking initial reservations now - please let me know if you're interesting in joining us again for this event! There's been a lot of buzz on campus and in College Park since the last one, so it looks like people are really getting excited for the next! The University has cleared us to put on this event once a semester. This date works for us because it doesn't conflict with any major sporting event or other campus event, and is also the day before the monthly Pennsylvania Music Expo, held in Lancaster, PA. For those of you coming from far out of town and debating whether or not to come out to College Park for this event, the Pennsylvania Music Expo is the largest record fair on the East Coast, and worth looking into if you want to make a weekend out of the trip. Remember, this is a college crowd, so it's your chance to unload some cheap stuff. Oddities, curiosities, conversation pieces, weird, funny stuff, and, yes, items in less than mint condition. Our experience has been that college students won't haggle with you about condition ??? most students would rather drop $50 on a bag full of records than $50 on a single one. Like last time, we will be playing music throughout the day, and may have live performances from bands and musicians as well. Feel free to get in touch with me if you have any questions about the record fair or WMUC.
