Looking for a job is no fun at all. I hate it. Can anyone school me on some good temp agencies in the bay area, preferably to end up working in the peninsula? Here's the skinny on me and how I ended up in this situation. I graduated from a good school in 2001 with a degree in Sociology and I started working as a Children's Program Assistant at a homeless/family shelter. I worked there for 3 and a half years and got a little burnt out on it. I started working at Amoeba. I worked there for 2 years and had some money saved up, so I decided to take some time off and work on music. That's what I've been doing for the past year. Now I am getting married and I need to get back into the work force. I wouldn't mind working at a non-profit again, but I am kind of leaning towards something that has less of an emotional involvement and has more regular hours, like an admin assistant job. I want a 9-5 job that is cut and dry. I know this post is rather I just thought I'd toss it out there in case anyone has any leads or has had a postive experience with any temp agencies out here.

I'm not in the Bay area, but have you considered KQED?

You might be qualified for Project Supervisor - Early Learning.

Raj should really take you on as the official SoulStrut Graemlin Czar. I'm not sure if that pays very much, though.

I signed on with The Creative Group, which is a division of Robert Half. Robert Half is major. Give their OfficeTeam division a try: http://www.officeteam.com/portal/site/ot-us

    Good luck!

  • Thanks for the advice. I don't think I am qualified for the kqes job, but I checked it out. Thanks for the tip.

Stef, I'm going to look into this. Thank you.

  • i know folks who have had good luck with The Job Shop http://www.jobshopsf.com and Searchwright http://www.searchwright.com but i don't know if they staff in the peninsula. if you want to work down there, why not try google?

i temped throughout college, but i later found out that applying directly to companies-i-want-to-work-for's recruitment sites was more rewarding. i don't know why but i can see you working at some techy company like real or cnet.

I wish. I have no formal training though. I can figure out how to do most things fairly quickly, but I don't have anything that resembles formal training or schooling in that area.

See me rolling through the office on my razor scooter to get some candy from the kitchen.

"Hey Tommy, did you photoshop those balls onto Dan's head yet? We need to send out that birthday card soon."

(Does a wallride on said razor scooter) "I gave him pubes for eyebrows" (smiles)

what she said....Office Team is serious. They find good gigs FAST and they keep finding you shit if you don't end up permanent. Best temp agency I ever used.

    yo T****,

There is a Non-Profit Career Fair being held at Stanford University this coming Monday (Mar. 3).

    Info here: http://www.idealist.org/if/idealist/en/CareerFair/Viewer/default?career-fair-id=182

This site Idealist.org is also a valuable tool if you're looking for jobs or info on organizations in that sector. Lots of listings, all over the place.

    Hope that helps some.
