The legends have been discussed. But who gets respect now? I'm not up on too much of the new music that comes out today, and my technical knowledge of drumming is average. Does Dave Grohl rate? No doubt he's multi-talented, but I'm not sure if his drumming is top shelf or not. And people always mention Travis Barker. Is he that skilled?Musicians, especially, chime in.

Ronald Bruner Jr.has been playing the drums since the age of 2. His earliest influence was his father, Ronald Bruner Sr., a world class drummer who has performed and recorded with Diana Ross, the Temptations and Gladys Knight.
Ron Jr. began his professional career at the age of 15, at the Theolonius Monk Institute, which opened the door to perform with many great artists such as Wayne Shorter, Dianne Reeves, and Ron Carter.,A few years later he became a regular member of Kenny Garret's band. Over the years his style has diversified, including punk rock with the band Suicidal Tendencies.
Now age 23, his other extensive credits already include Lee Ritenour, Roy Hargrove, Tribal Tech, Larry Carlton, Marcus Miller, Kirk Whalum, Robben Ford, Patrice Rushen, Clark Terry, Johnny Hodges, and Gerald Albright.

Dunno what he's up to now, but Wilf from Dog Faced Hermans was my favorite drummer of the 90s.
Along those lines, Katherina of the Ex definitely is one of the top drummers of the day.
This man has bought records off my on ebay last year....didn't know he was a drummer to be honest.
Saw them live about 2 years ago and dude was smokin' on those pots and pans!
I'll go for Zack Starkey.
Interesting talking to Malcom Catto as he personally doesn't rate himself as a solid drummer.
