I couldn't wait till 1,000 to do my obligatory mix post so here it is 38 posts early.It's an unmixed mix of some tracks that I've been feeling lately. Some of them are recent pick ups, some I've had for a while, but they're all pretty mellow. I wanted to put together a group of tracks for those hungover mornings or long work days when you just want to hear some quiet shit. Some of these tracks are pretty rare, some are a bit easier to come by. Man, I really love this next one. I don't know what it is exactly, it's just really simple and smooth. Really cool bouncing bass line, complimentary string and horn sections, simple lyrics about dancing. This shit makes me want to do like those cheesy scenes in the movies where you grab your girlfriend off the couch and slow dance badly in the living room when no one's looking. There's a 12" vocal version of this one that's been comped, but as some friends correctly pointed out to me before I go this, the instrumental's what you need, and that's only on the 45. This track kinda nails it all- it's deep, funky and poppy at all the right times. Here's an obscure one and a recent pick up. Real jazzy track on Channel 2 records, a private label out of xxxxxxxx. This album's a 2 tracker and both of those tracks are too short!Richard Clements - Keep It To Yourself[/b]
This whole album is so Frickin' good and I had a tough time deciding which track to put on here, but luckily the decision was made for me cause my copy of this lp is beat to hell and this is one of the only tracks that plays without a boat load of noise. That's ok though cause this track is fire. LOUNGE DISCO FOREAL.Carey Harris and Michael Orr - A Piece Of Mine[/b]
This one's on some opium den type shit and has become a bit ubiquitous lately because the artist pressed up his own reissue and is selling them on ebay as originals. You can tell my copy's legit though cause there are pops all over it, haha. Def worth picking up on the reissue, just don't believe dude's hype.James D. Hall - I Wanna Get Into You[/b]
Straight up disco porn music on this next one... lyrics about makin love, driving wah wah, male-female duet... gotta love it. Unabashed sex music. This record is big on the UK rare groove scene, and despite the fact that it's on Venture seems to be a fairly tough one to come up on.Sir John Roberts - Ain't Nothing Like Making Love[/b]
This next one isn't disco, but it's still got that late-70s sound and I think it works well with the other songs. Don't miss out on the ambient bong rips in the back ground.Thesda - Bongo Lumbo[/b]
Classic underground disco soul right here. This album is probably best known for "Give Me The Sunshine," but the whole record is really solid. In an odd move, the record includes only four songs with an instrumental version for each. I'm really feeling the lyrics on this one and the vocal harmonies on the chorus are so right.Leo's Sushipp - I'm Back For More[/b]
Another recent buy here. I hadn't heard of this until 45 until recently, and only found out about their heavily gripped 12" a few months back when DJ Love On The Run played it as his night "Secret Rendezvous" in BK. The string section on here caught my ear the most- it's kinda warped the way it fades in and out with that back and forth melody, it's a bit unsettling but so dope.Evans Pyramid - No, I won't[/b]
Arranged by Tommy Stewart with that signature funky lounge vibe he did so well. This track doesn't really hit you over the head, but just simmers along riding that subtle groove. I like the way dude talks tough in this song with the least intimidating singing voice ever. And his last name is Jolly. So rough. You sure that he's selling reissues? Source please. I just bought the 12" version of this from JD. Wondering now if it's a reissue.

I don't think that he has admitted to anyone that they are second pressings, but I know several people who have bought the 12" (including myself) who all agree that it has to be. He seems to have a suspiciously large stock, and my copy looks really *new*. There isn't really any way to prove it because he used the original plates and the label is basically identical. But since they are off the same plates and look the same, I'm not sure how much it matters anyway.
As for the 45, I bought a copy from him recently because I wanted one that played cleaner than mine. It arrived in an old tattered white 45 sleeve, but there is no doubt in my mind it was a reish. The label had a very slightly different font from my original, so I think it is safe to assume that all the records that he has recently "found" quantity of are second pressings.
If anyone knows differently I'd love to hear it, but I'm pretty sure this is the case.

I don't know, I guess I'm not convinced either way. That an artist would have unplayed, new looking stock is really not suspicious at all. That's why people track artists, right? To get at that box or two of sealed stock they have stashed away in a closet or whatever. As for the 45s, here is the photo he has up on ebay right now:
Does not look like a repress to me. Of course it doesn't prove anything either way. It just seems like the "evidence" by which you're accusing the artist of selling reissues is shakey at best.
