Yuck. I hate the newer rounded edged style Lasonics.
seconded, but hopefully this will make some of the bigger electronics companies interested in releasing some bigger boxes. but most likely not. at all.
when is this thing going to finally be released? theres been talk of about 3 different versions for a few years now, originally one with a CD player, then one with a DVD player (why?) and now this model, yet they still havent released any of them. over at the other forum i call home (http://www.stereo2go.com) theres a new thread asking this same question.
lasonic's website was always shit too. back in the late 90s or so i really wanted a TRC-975 (they were still selling them!!) and the site offered no help as far as where to go in real life or online to buy one. then OF COURSE when i finally convinced my parents to get one, they discontinued it and that stupid rounded-edge version of the 931 was all that was available. luckily i got an original 80's model 931 a few years later:
without a doubt the best looking box on the market right now PERIOD, but still pretty ...i'm all for 80's boxes with cheesy diagrams and graphs on them but they kinda overdid it. a LOT. too many colors all over it. just not very tastefully designed and playing wayyy too much off the whole 80s aspect of it.
i liked it better when these cheap companies were totally unaware that their outdated product designs were still desirable because they looked so good, not playing it up so much that its only a few steps above the latest gimmicks from the big companies.
i'm feelin it. not the rounded corners but the fact that you can take your IPOD video and plug it into your TV just adds to all the other cool shit. I'm coppin.
I know there is nothing special about it really but I dig it.
I have an overwhelming urge to throatpunch that guy.
Yes, and then feed him that gold shit he's wearing.
also
Both radios are ugly, but the Lasonic has something fun about it, the other one just looks dull. (no matter how funky the model holding it is)
I dunno dude, as much as I'd like to dropkick the douchebag "modeling" the boombox, (IMO) TEAC came correct with this clean retro design. I'd definitely cop that shit.

Yup - dual vu meters? Yes please. Hopefully these are the first shots in a retro boombox arms race.

exactly why i hate the first one, its too "fun". i mean, either way id prefer one of my real 80's joints but at least the TEAC has a thread of autenticity to it. looks like a real box somebody modified, where-as the Lasonic looks like it saw a cartoon drawing of a boombox and took it 5 miles further.

Woah. I didn't see that at CES? I guess it's cool, but all this ipod craze is really whatever imo.

well...technically both have dual VU's, but the Lasonic's are LED so yeah, i prefer the meter-type any day of the week.
this is something i think anybody who visits this thread can agree on.
plus why is it plugged in? pleeease dont tell me this model doesnt run on batteries. that would be a horrible move on TEAC's part.
