Yeah, the McDermott piece is really well done; it's not quite as breathless as Gold's (for better and for worse--worse because it maybe doesn't convey as much of the energy of the time, but in 2007, well after the fact, it reads better). I'd encourage folks to seek out the whole thing, though--that link is missing at least a few pages.
