i just picked up the raphy leavitt lp "payaso" with out remembering that the title track was THEE soundtrack to my house in the mid to late 80's.my mother used to play this song to cook, clean and chill. the song makes me realy happy even though it's lyrics are pretty sad. funny thing is i hated this song and all salsa music when i was young.anyway, either yay or nay the song, or talk about records your parents used to play you still love.peace, xavier

  • or how about some unabashed Raphy apreesh!

so many dope tracks, and I've barely seen any of his old material comped or re-released.

just heard another hip hop track that sampled him recently, Rico Pabon I think.

"amor y paz", "fiesta en mi corazon" get played by me on the regular.

I saw Raphy y La Selecta in P.R. during last year's Candela Art & Music fest. They STILL GOT IT. Old San Juan was showing some outdoor, free, all ages love - while the Hvyw8 (sp?) crew did some live painting that didn't suck at all.

My ma sadly was listening more to early Dolly Parton (which I have a soft spot for now). But no Raphy.

Van Morrison is parent music to me too.
