I just played a wedding this past weekend where "Tighten Up," "Different Strokes," "It's Your Thing" and other soul classics got the best response, as well as oldschool hip hop like "Hypnotize" and "I Got A Man"(!)And check out the request list for the wedding I'm doing this Saturday:
1) First dance song: "I Live for You" - George Harrison, from "AllThings Must Pass"2) Slow-ish songs while eating (before first dance, I guess?):Book Song - Fairport Convention[/b]Long Live Love - Sandie Shaw[/b]Let it Loose - Rolling StonesSerevende - Thomas MapfumoTwelve-Thirty - the Mamas & the PapasDusty Springfield, other sweet girl band stuff, you know...... and whatever else you think would be good.3) Dance songs: It would be great to hear some/all of these, if youthink they would work. This also just gives you an idea of the kind ofmusic we like...Genius of Love - Tom Tom ClubHush - Deep PurpleI Want More and... - CAN[/b]See No Evil - Television[/b]Chewing Gum - Annie (album Anniemal)Wah-Wah - George HarrisonMy Love for You - ESG[/b]American Girl - Tom PettyTomorrow Never Knows - BeatlesWolf Like Me - TV on the Radio[/b]Peekaboo - Siouxsie & the BansheesYou Made Me Come to You - Honey ConeAutomatic - Pointer SistersAli Baba - John Holt (and pretty much anything else from that TrojanMod Reggae box set, if you have it)[/b]any dance-y David Bowie4) etc... I just played a wedding this past weekend where "Tighten Up," "Different Strokes," "It's Your Thing" and other soul classics got the best response, as well as oldschool hip hop like "Hypnotize" and "I Got A Man"(!)

And check out the request list for the wedding I'm doing this Saturday:

    1) First dance song: "I Live for You" - George Harrison, from "All

Let it Loose - Rolling Stones
    Serevende - Thomas Mapfumo
    Twelve-Thirty - the Mamas & the Papas
Dusty Springfield, other sweet girl band stuff, you know...

... and whatever else you think would be good.

    3) Dance songs: It would be great to hear some/all of these, if you
think they would work. This also just gives you an idea of the kind of
    music we like...

    I Want More and... - CAN[/b]
    See No Evil - Television[/b]
Chewing Gum - Annie (album Anniemal)

Ali Baba - John Holt (and pretty much anything else from that Trojan
Mod Reggae box set, if you have it)[/b]
    any dance-y David Bowie

    4) etc... Dance music that would make people happy, popular old-school
stuff, like old Prince, old Michael Jackson, old Madonna dance-y stuff
like "Get Into the Groove", etc. Oldies & soul stuff that the older
folks mighty like... Plus pretty much anything from the Nuggets II box[/b]
set, and we also love the Bhangra stuff you play.[/b]

Don't get me wrong, I've had some great ones in Richmond too.

But that list is a dream.
