    LOL

Nah. Im just saying Baker is an R&B singer w/ Jazzy influences.
Dana is on some MOR Night Club/Easy Listening/Pop Soul/for Mama n 'em/Post Chicago/Living Single Jazz

Baker needs to try a str8 ahead Jazz album and get that Diane Krall money w/ out the Starbucks overtones.

    On the Real....

    I need this.

And the Album should get the Deluxe Treatment. Put that Live DVD w/ the CD and talk about the impact it made on Black Radio.

You gotta admire her audacity to try something new right?

Actually she has been "singing" since her first album. And after Chicago, went full throttle towards the singer thang. So its not really a surprise. I think the whole Grown N Sexy thing is a little wierd cause you would think w/ her Hip Hop pedigree she would be doin more "Urban" R&B or even some Neo-Soul shit.
She really on some Tony Bennett(no diss)shit.

Like Batmon said, it's not really new.

This album follows on "The Dana Owens Album" which was almost identical in style though, in my opinion, that album was executed better but I might have to go back to it now, just to confirm that. And the two projects prior to that was the "Chicago" soundtrack and a few jazz/soul standards sung on the "Living Out Loud" soundtrack before that.

So "Travelin' Light" isn't new and it's definitely not remotely audacious. If anything, what makes it so disappointing is how safe it sounds. Like Diana Krall/dinner jazz safe.

The one track that stuck w/ me was the duet w/ Al Green. I wouldnt call D.O. album trash but just so "Standard -ish". I wonder if she "stretched" out on this outing?

I imagine they audience she reaching for is the "Chicago/Avon" audience.
