These are college-age student athletes who get massive scholarships, get to play sports on TV, and have a shot at playing or coaching professionally. I think they can deal with a bad newspaper article. I'd be embarassed if Gundy was my coach.
The article basically says that one of team's QB's has an attitude problem, isn't tough or hungry enough and that was the reason that he had been replaced in the starting lineup. Which is pretty harsh criticism of a college athlete. It's one thing to criticize performance, but this was basically questioning this kids character with nothing to back it up.
I think the tantrum was aimed just as much at his team, i.e. I'll stand up for you, as screaming at the media. I like how this was after the team WON a game as well!
