I don't like to fudge with my counterweight settings ever. i find where they don't skip when I mix and scratch, and leave them there. but when you record stuff from the turntable/mixer, it can sound kind of, um, weighty, for lack of a better word. any audiophile dudes in here have any expertise, know the best weight settings for recording? thank yous.

  • Depends largely on the needles you have, your needles should come with instructions for the best weight settings and you can probably find it online easy enough. You need quite a bit of weight on for it to effect the sound though, I'd say just back off abit the regular weight u use for scratching. Less weight is better for the records too.

  • Thanks for the tips. I checked with Shure, reset the tracking force and all of that. Sounds less weighty now, a vinyl record still is never gonna sound super clean like the original master though. every format has their own flaw in terms of sound i believe, with my ears.
