It's been a pretty slow week, but here's what I found.

This is their first LP, not as tightly gripped as their next (psych) one, but still a not real common mid/late 60s Australian garage/beat LP.

45s - Includes a few doubles to now get rid of, but they were cheap....
Buffalo Springfield - For What It's Worth
The Kinks - A Well Respected Man
    Booker T & The MGs - Groovin'
Booker T & The MGs - Heads Or Tails
Booker T & The MGs - Time Is Tight
    The McCoys - Dynamite
    Young Holt - Wack Wack
    Young Holt - Soulful Strut
Little Richard - Bama lama Bama Loo
    The Animals - Boom Boom
The Shangri Las - He Cried
The Shangri Las - Remember Walking In The sand
    Jimmy Cliff - Vietnam
Rolling Stones - We Love You
Johnny Cash - Next In Line
Johnny Cash - You Tell me
Johnny Cash - I Just Thought You'd Like To Know
Johnny Cash - I Forgot To remember To Forget
Major Lance - Investigate - this wasn't cheap, but I'm a sucker for soul pic sleeve 45s
Billy Karaitiana - Cool Jerk/Pains Of Love - had been after this for a while, probably one of the best local soul 45s, hard to get.
    Sam Cooke - Sad Mood
Quincy Conserve - Going back To The Garden

  • I haven't played it yet, but just yesterday I copped a 2-record set of a Melvin Van Peebles radio show hosted by Lou Rawls for the Navy (!!!), ca. '74. I don't know if MVP is being interviewed, but there are definitely selections from his albums. Great pseudo-hip liner notes that let us know what a down street brother Lou is. If you'd like to know more, hit me back on Friday when I get back to town ('cause I'm leaving for Vegas in a couple of hours).

What do you think of this? I had a copy but traded it a while back, and can??t really remember what it??s like. Couldn??t have been that mindmelting. There??s a long jammy track on it right?

"take me , break me" is the highlight for me which can be easily grabed on 45.

Worth extremely decent loot too if it's the same one I'm thinking of. Or maybe that's the "yikes!" part.

Thats Why Underground sunshine is on In"tepid" label.

  • another crack in the deep barrel yielded...

^^the lower right comp is the first LP release of lou reeds 1st 45, the
"beachnuts" - the 45 is mega$$$, but they put it on this comp too.

^^ wait.. whats Jorge sitting on???

^^ picked up the JC Power Outlet cuz its on Myyrh, no idea if its good or stinky yet.

^^also took a chance on the gospel folk thing. never seen the lower right Sill
    before, im assuming its interesting.

^^ "I Brute Force" is comedy but its musically pretty weird stuff. 1st Laws and
1st tom jones, as far as i can tell.

^^ unusual ray charles on the political/social tip. finally a clean mar-keys to
upgrade my annoying "skippy" copy. that 101 strings isnt much to hear but i love
    the cover.

^^ emil richards is cool covers in weird time signatures. arif mardin is very cool
sounding, hard to describe though. center top is a canadian sorta fusion thing.
Chris Clark sounds niiiice. the "I A Woman 2" thing looks kinda x-rated from the
titles, but i havent listened yet.

crispin glovers legendary freakout album, the very hard to find (for me) mark IV
on mercury, 2 early deep groove jimmy smiths (bit rough, but those deep groove
blue notes just dont skip!), the (for me) most elusive Strawberry Alarm Clock
record (finally), upgrade on the O'Jays on minit, and a clean gene ammons.

^^ 45 nuttiness!! Ali pic sleeve cant be too easy to find.
    more 45's...

That Chris Clark LP is a tough pull, looks like a nice copy too!

What is the Match/A New Light album all about?

Funny, that Jamie Brockett is one of those records I only
ever see with radio station letters across the front like that.
    Nothing mind-blowing, but there's a couple cool spaced-out folk
tracks on there - he's a local Boston guy, so I see it around.

what i thought too, but that record is pretty worthless boring soundtrack music...if i remember correctly. i know i got rid of it.

  • A dig or two, trades, many an e-buys etc......This what I have to show for new records from the last half of summer.

    Hype.

not feeling my weekend morning drive in the country was worth while, stormy winds saturday had apparently blown all records into space, no wax in sight..
back in the city, hittin another flea later on, i came up behind a dude who was pulling danish psych raers for 5kr a pop, a few seconds too late i watched him haul in the goodies with no left overs... i was getting a bit grumpy at this point, not really feelin that i needed to waste anymore precious weekend time on this crappyass flea business..
returning home i hit a last spot, my mood was to change for the better cause i managed to bag a JB joint that had eluded me for years, one of the essential ones:

C.Clark is minty fresh, maybe unplayed. very stoked on that one.

Match is in the sunshine pop/Association category, but its much harder to find and generally way more interesting/better. see: the sugar shoppe, etc.

I like the brockett, but i dont like a later one of his i heard from '77 or so. i mean, it was good county folk, but "2" has a much odder sound, more interesting. i agree with the "spaced-out folk" description. the call letter thing is a sure sign of: "send out the promos." "um...no one gets it. no phones, no spins." "ok, dont bother shipping any to the stores." Anyone got Jamie Brockett 1? is it also good?

D'oh! oh well. it was a freebie throw-in, fortunately.

How's the P.S. 186 record? It's NYC early hip-hop stuff from high schoolers, right?
