I was once DJing a soul/funk night and more than one person asked to hear Luscious Jackson. That's some sad shit, innit?

Of course, this was 13 years ago, too. Soul/funk nights weren't the chic thing they appear to be now, so people were likely to ask for the damndest, most unlikeliest stuff...

    haha...

i was at my local bar a few weeks back (spot in bklyn where they show soccer games) and was chopping it up with the bartender about music and what not. the topic of the Flaming Lips came up and the chick was like "wayne is a real good dude, he was super nice when we toured". Anyway, this chick was in LJ (gabby) and now does some singer-song writer stuff on the solo tip.

i almost had the OOF moment though, as i was about to tell her i thought "cannon ball" was a good track. luckily i caught my mistake before i misspoke.
