Great time to go. Lots of lovely places to stay, great restaurants (mostly serving the same thing - tagine) and the warren of streets and shops in the Medina will keep you busy for a couple of days. Lots of nice other place to see, too and it feels safe. Try to get out of Marrakesh to the High Atlas for a day, or more if you have time. All the designer stuff is fake, whether they're showing you the 'fake' ones at $5 or the 'real' ones at $70.

There are small piles of records tucked away in unlikely shops in the Medina, but on the whole they're utterly fucked. North African and Arabic 45s from the 50s and 60 and mainstream US and French soul and pop albums from the late 60s to mid 70s, mostly. Probably worth asking around in the market, though - if there's a bit of cash at stake I'm sure someone will find some to flog you. Marrakesh was the favourite party town for the jetset of the 60s and early 70s so there must be old records knocking around somewhere.
