so, last night, we're in st. louis shooting a profile of laurence maroney. and, we pull up in his old neighborhood- his boys in a denali up front, him in a benz 440 with camera crew and talent up, and me trailing in the rented minivan.
we park at dusk in west st. louis, and his cousin on the corner runs up to his car, and says...
'hey, laurence...is that white boy in the minivan with you? he looks suspicious.'
i told him it was ok; i hang out on soulstrut.
I think it was the Minivan that was the dead giveaway.

Shoot was good though- stuff in the 'hood was great. There were two camps: 'PUT ME ON THE NEWS! I WANNA BE ON TV!' and 'DON'T YOU TAKE MY PICTURE...' If they said not to, we didn't...
