FREE 35mm screening of Samuel Fuller's rare 1982 feature "White Dog" takes place tonight (Thursday 7/5) at the Baltimore Museum of Art, 8pm.Comes from the maverick, cult-fave director of such classics as Shock Corridor, Underworld USA, The Big Red One, Crimson Kimono, Naked Kiss, and Pickup On South Street.Score by Morricone, co-written by Curtis Hanson (LA Confidential, 8 Mile) in the early, hipper days of his career.Intended as Fuller's ultimate statement about racism in the US, this film was shelved by the studio out of fears that audiences would actually root for the main chataracter -- a dog trained to lethally attack black people. A lost classic? A well-intentioned mess? Racist? Come out and see for yourself.
