Whats the difference between WAV & AIFF basically?

I could google it, but my main concern is microwave use and it's easier to just ask SS gods. Can AIFF save tags, meaning bpm's and such, unlike WAV ?

    Aiff= Main Apple uncompressed audio format

    Wav= Microsoft uncompressed audio format

    Both are uncompressed audio files with really no difference between them.

    As far as tags are concerned, from what I understand you can add info to both.

    You can add info to WAV, but the next day it will be miraculously gone. Or maybe I'm just doing it wrong.
