I usually roll thru Gardena for some Hakata ramen at Shinsengumi but I know this city is stocked with all kinds of hole in the wall spots. Who's got the insider knwoledge on where the best grub spots at?

pound for pound gardena bowl has the best hawaiian breakfast.

dans okazuya is pretty ill too but i havent been in a while and i heard they changed ownership or something.

bruddah's is straight up og hawaiian plate lunch steez.

the yakitori shin sen gumi is dope.

kotohira has handmade udon noodles but its gettin kinda warm for that

sakuraya for the bomb manju and mochi sweets. best ever.

teri hawaiian for that og hawaiian style shave ice. dont forget the scoop of ice cream in it!

gaja in lomita is close and prolly one of the best okonomiyaki spots on the west coast.

I really like this spot but the last time I went there (a few years ago), the rating was below a B. Never went back again.

Damn, it's still there on Western? Mad memories of going there with my mom buying these.

I need to get back there.

This is my sentimental fave, I love the chili dogs here.

there's plenty good in Gardena! there's Pitburger on Normandie and 166th for your straight beef or chicken teriyaki, right around the corner is Guilianos on Gardena Blvd for some good sandwiches which is pretty much across the street from Bruddahs. Theres also a Peruvian chicken place on Vermont by Gardena Blvd and a couple more peruvian spots close by. Tampopo is a ramen spot i like on Western and Redondo Beach blvd, or Umemura's across the street, looks like a taco bell building. Oh and Spoonhouse for japanese style spaghetti. There's plenty more, is there a certain style of food you're lookin for?

Not Gardena, but how would you rate Rutts in West LA? I love that spot, especially on a nice saturday afternoon.

I like Rascals in that little mall where Tampopo is. That spot across the street used to be an old school Taco Bell.

I just went to an old steak house/Hawaiian food joint, I forget the name, right past the Hustler Casino, on the way to the bowling alley for an uncles birthday party. Felt like I was in a time warp complete with a nisei bartender, looked like in his 50's with a perm. Alright food.

Is Tampopo still around? I thought they closed?

And I'm looking for any kind of cuisine where I get my lunch on for >$10. All these places sound pretty correct in that respect.

Is that the same Rascals chain like they have on Bellflower in Long Beach? It's no bad for the $$$ but I've eaten there way too many times now.

Ha - is it really that hard to say, "all normal"? I just had lunch there yesterday and it was pretty solid, especially for the price.

However, best ramen in L.A. that I've found, hands down, is SANTOUKA inside the Mitsuwa malls in Torrance and West L.A. Their shio is crazy proper.
