I started reading this book today, and got to the end of the first chapter. The question is, should I proceed? All the god bullshit is really annoying every other paragraoh. does it keep the preaching to a minumum, or is it like reading the bible.I read james brown's autobio recently and was dissapointed in how he made himself out to be a pefect human, that never did drugs, or any stuff that is actually fun to read about. is this how al's book is?

I don't remember offhand if the book contains a lot of preaching - the most I remember is towards the end, during his last days at Hi, when he rediscovers the Lord. THAT'S when he starts putting himself on a pulpit.

Is it that 'Take Me To The River' book? I remember enjoying it, but you sort of have take a lot of it with a grain of salt.

Oh yeah, the preaching lets up after the beginning. If it's the book I'm thinking of.
