I quit my nine-five about a little under tow months ago and have been making money DJing. I wanted to take a bout a year to just relax/travel..etc. after being in the grind for 3.5 .... I would however like to have some extra spending cash to handle all going out and traveling shit... Do any of you all have a little side hustle secret to make a little cash legally? Speak on it....

    I have a side hustle that none of you clowns on SoulStrut are up on. I buy old LPs and 45s (on vinyl for you n00bs) from record stores and thrift shops, and then re-sell them for more than I paid. I got $25 for this one Joe Farrell joint that I only paid $8 for. Step your game up.

    When I was broke and lived in Austin, I did medical studies for extra money. From personal experience, I don't recommend the one where they remove your wisdom teeth and give you tic-tacs for painkillers (goddamn placebo group).

    I knew these straight edge heads who would go there and take drugs for money. Damn clowns and their fake ass convictions. I don't know if I'd fuck with that personally, but it is almost like money for nothing.



    Odd jobs offa craigslist, and buying low selling high are the only legal options I can think of.


    Don't know where you're at but try to play on your city's local resources, industries, cultures and sell on the World Wide Web. Central US trash is often Coastal US treasure.

    I quit my 9 to 5 (a bullshit graphic design job doing signage which was more like 8 to 6) and took up real estate photography. Did the first few for free, stepped my photo game up and now my business just today turned over 1000 profit in a week for the first time. I have a business partner who had capital to start it up, he does house plans while i snap photos. This week we worked about 20 hours each, and a quarter of that is at home processing photos/plans. Its pretty leisurely stuff.

    Best paying gig I ever got was amateur male stripping. $73 in three minutes. Try to get into a bar that caters to the ladies.

    I got some private Irish drinking song record with a cover that was so GAY and SICK... flipped that ish on Waxidermy for 15 bucks and a bag of dirt weed.

    I don't know how big you are or how confrontational you might be, but I used to make nice, clean cash on the barrelhead by working the door at a rock club/hipster hangout back in the mid-90s. I basically played the nice guy who happens to be large, while my co-workers ranged from guys who liked to fight, ex-boxers, and cycle dudes with chips on their shoulders--which was great because most times my size was enough, and when it wasn't, one of my co-bouncers were eager to get physical with jackass douchebags. You will likely have some barback duties too, but lugging kegs and cases is good for you. I used to clear $50 cash for a 10pm-1am shift, $75 on the weekends a bit longer. Sometimes you get tipped out too. Seriously great side gig if you get in a place where people don't shoot each other over stupid shit.

    Now my side hustle has been working the weekend evening shifts doing patient registration at Children's Hospital in DC. Strangely enough, I have had to employ some of my bouncer skills with nutty parents on occasion, but mostly I just call security. No cash payment, but benefits if you need 'em. And all the hours you might need, 24/7.
