I'm not gonna dance because I bumped my head last time.

The storage closet behind the DJ decks. I think we can fit in between the boxes of napkins and some dude's bicycle.

Will you be refering to me as Dizzy or Trouser?

So weird. I've wanted to be called Trouser Lopez for so long now, and here it is. I already kinda miss being Dizzy Bull. You'll have to excuse me for being sentimental, but this obviously a giant change in my life.

Thanks - great to see you there. But for my money it was all the RVA folks that came out who made it an incredible night. Non-stop dancing, friendly people, and even lotsa trainspotters asking about this record or that. Sire Troy played a killer soul set as usual and I was I was so happy to play a lot of semi-obscure European 60s stuff and have people going nuts. Especially the one record collector who kept on giving me evil looks not because she hated the music, but because she was jealous that I had all these French records. Good times!

Big shoutout to alcoholic_drink for having me spin a 2-hour set on WRIR the next day too - I had a blast man! Sorry we didn't catch up after the show dude but I really needed to take a shower, change clothes and get on home. We'll link up next time.

But I have to give THE ULTIMATE GAS FACE to Ukrops for having my car towed during the gig, taking my overnight bag with it. Nothing better than having to sleep with your contact lenses in & the night's sweaty smoky clothes on, and paying $65 the next day to get it back. I even had bought something at that fucking store so they obviously don't mind TOWING THEIR OWN CUSTOMERS.

I'll post my club & radio setlists soon.

And Fatback please post some pictures, you filthy old man.

What's that Patsy Gallant track like? I don't know that one, but I like the songs around it!

Nah, just an irregular thing. Troy used to spin fairly often w/ his DJ partner Marty (as The Scorpio Brothers), but since Marty moved to NYC about 2 years ago, Troy doesn't spin as much as he used to. In this case, I wanted to come to RVA to visit, so I called Troy and said "let's do Ipanema," he set it up, and it went really well.

But back here in NC, my co-DJ Midnite Cowbwoy & I play that kinda stuff every Wednesday, plus a more soul-oriented gig on 3rd Saturdays at the Alibi Bar in Raleigh.

Sly Stone-style funk (almost disco IMO) track in French from 1972. Doesn't sound anything like the songs around it, but it's a total dancefloor bomb with killer production. It's from the album of the same name, and not too expensive either. Arizona strutter Karlito turned me onto it a couple years ago.

  • Here's my radio set from the next day. Thanks again to alcoholic_drink for letting me spin!
