Features an awesome cover of "What Color Is Love", also "Touch Me Baby" by Tamiko Jones (I think she called it "Reaching Out For Your Love").

    ^^^ I like that one.

Nicky Thomas does covers of Soul Power 74[/b] and Lay Lady Lay[/b] that are pretty dope.

  • The soul jazz comp, studio 1 soul has quite few of those mentioned above, all killer tunes, great album!

I know someone mentioned the Heptones earlier - their version of Message from a Black Man is terrific.

Also terrific is The Chosen Few - Do Your Thing.

Of the ones mentioned so far, definitely rate Rock Steady, Be thankful, and Chosen Few - Shaft.

BUT... isn't talking about reggae covers a bit lil dude on the realness front? Kind of like asking what's the best Perry Farrell Drum n Bass production.

Post some Reggae LP covers like kidgusto. Record porn trumps opinions every time. I'll shut up and do the same.

I don't . Do you mind explaining your thinking?

Can't think of decent comparison, and there are no emoticons to describe it.

I like Norma Fraser's "First Cut is the Deepest." There are plenty of others, but this one sticks out for me because of the plaintive quality of her voice (she sounds like she's really suffered).

US soul/R&B covers are basically the genesis of reggae itself, so naturally it remains part of the art form. Snowball rolling, ya know?

Current 60's sounding funk bands do not have said roots.

K opn the banks of LAke Huron.
