I've been listening to this mix on the regular for the past 2 years or so and it is pure heat. All kinds of Brazilian covers of American songs and just crazy funky music. I'll be going to Brazil in about a year, but I want to have a general sense of artists and eras so I know what's up beforehand.Any good compilations of this kind of stuff that I should pick up as an introduction? Suggestions much appreciated.

  • Any good compilations of this kind of stuff that I should pick up as an introduction? Suggestions much appreciated.

these top two have been in my recent rotation

all other mixes by my boy Greg "Gregzinho" Caz (responsible for the BBBrooklyn comp) are educational institutions. so much schooling (liner notes even on the mix CDs!)

also, on the free digital tip, there's a load of websites that I've been dl-ing the brazilian heat from. sometimes you gotta sort through it all to get the funk yer fiending, but check some of the dope samba and jazzy stuffs too:

    http://loronix.blogspot.com/
(everytime the entry says "contributed by Mr. G- that's gregzinho and a guaranteed bomb)

    http://www.sabadabada.com/
(dood is here on the strut, although I don't know him -if you read this, thanks for all the tunes by the way!)

    and on the psych tip

the past few months I've had more brazi ish than I can deal with. so many revelations. check this album for example:
