I like this record. It is not a super hard funk piece if that's what your are looking for. I seem to remember the flip Wazuri is actually the cool side. A very mellow but funky blues instrumental. I asked the board a few months ago if anybody knew whether Mississippi Mud is a later version of the song on the 45 with the trippy label (can't remember the bands name).
Haha, that's what I get for not looking at the auction first. I just assumed that it was the 45 you were asking about. My guess is that this is mostly a 70s blues record with some funkiness thrown in.

There's also a 45 culled from the LP.
Sam & Bob are Mosley & Johnson who have an LP or two on Malaco from the '80s.
The Mojoba group on Polydor with a few mid-70s 45s is also these dudes (with the addition of Doris Badie, hence MO[/b]sley JO[/b]hnson BA[/b]die).
Doris Badie has a further solo 45 on Polydor.
The duo's version of "Mississippi Mud" is lacklustre (note UK spelling).
I'm fairly confident that the Mississippi-based Sam and Bob had nothing to do with Smithstonian, who were from Baton Rouge.
Dante, any idea where they came up with a pressing of 400? Do you see the single around in the midwest?
The person selling the records came up with "400 pressed" out of their ass, likely.
Yeah, you're right though, "Wazuri" is not on the LP.
The single has popped up a few times around these parts, but largely it's pretty obscure.
i think it was something like 2000 according to sam.
