  • they need to integrate this stuff with google earth and keep constantly upping the ante on the level of detail.

    the 3d GPS systems they have in cars here in Japan don't look too far off from that picture you posted

    Nevertheless, the Tokyo thing is next level, makes me realise how disconnected the people in my office thinking how they are with their flythrough.

    it is somehow possible to keep up to the level of detail as shown in Kenny's post if the municipal department has a comprehensively integrated GIS datatbase with data on terrain levels, building levels, builtform shape/polygon, road alignments etc.
