supposedly, losing teeth and falling are the two most common dreams. i heard that at a party in college when we were drunk and overly intellectual, but based on anecdotal cocktail party talk, it seems true enough.

this is one of my reoccuring dreams, along with floating, and being a passenger in a car with no driver as it's speeding on the freeway. from reading dream analysis passages, they've almost all been different from one another. it's kinda like horoscropes where it's almost suggestive and you just take away what you wanna hear.

falling under my teeth dreams include my teeth becoming crooked, easily being moved like play doh, teeth turning yellow teeth / tarnished, and growing teeth that are too bunched for my mouth, double rows like shark teeth steez.

i think all of this is rooted in my past oral experiences. as a yout, i had several visits to the dentist as a yout, with lots of cavities due to deep molars. in addition i had braces, which made me succeptable to your lips mouth getting cut up. once i had the brackets ripped off my teeth. i also had my wisdom teeth pulled at a young age...

finally, i grind my teeth in my sleep, and my dentist told me that i'll need to visit a paradentist sometime in the future to correct whatever damage i've done.

i floss regularly and brush teeth and tongue atleast 3 times a day. i just try to be conscious of oral hygiene, ?

Teeth are used in the game of flirtations, whether it be a dazzling and gleaming smile or affectionate necking.

I was just talking about this Friday. Odd. They say it means your life is out of order. I have no reason to disagree with that interpretation.

From my 19th Century "what's in a dream" book.

An ordianry dream of teeth augurs unpleasant contact with sickness, or disquiting people ... If you loose your teeth, you will have burdens that crush your pride and demolish your affairs ... To dream of spitting out teeth, portends personal sickness, or sickness in your immediate family ... For one tooth to fall out, foretells disagreeable news; if two it denotes unhappy states that the dreamer will be plunged into from carelessness on his part. If three fall out, sickness and accidents of a very serious nature will follow ... seeing all the teeth drop out, death and famine usually will prevail. If the teeth are decayed and you pull them out, the same, only yourself, is prominent in the case.

  • I've had dreams wherein I check the mirror to see what my teeth look like and they're all rotting out with the color and apparent texture of black keys on a piano. they look dull and made out of whipped cream or something..

  • Teeth are a vain status symbol, and you are preoccupied with losing status right now.

What I always was taught is that when you dream about losing teeth is about a loss of identity. I find it very interesting because of your other post about having a change in your life about your job.

I think it's funny you post this about your dreams! It is so in your face, and it's awesome!

Don't ignore it now. This may be the one time to can catch your path. Who knows when it will come back to you.

You should be actually happy right now (as I am about it) because this is a sign that you are living life.

My wife just had a dream where she pulled a tooth out and told me the next day, "Someone's gonna die". She told her mom, who told her sister, "Your sister had a dream that you died".

I don't put much stock in any of it, but whatever. People die all the time, so a dream coinciding does not alarm me.

Once in a while, I have nightmares where torture involves my fingernails and toenails. It messes with my mind when I wake up from these dreams and I don't know where they come from. I'm not a morbid type of person either.

Dreams that your teeth are falling out are the most common dreams we here at Dream Moods receive. Common dream scenarios include having your teeth crumbling in your hands or your teeth falling out one by one with just a light tap. Such dreams are not only horrifying and shocking, but often leaves the dreamer with a lasting image of the dream. So what does it mean?

One theory is that dreams about your teeth reflect your anxiety about your appearance and how others perceive you. Sadly, we live in a world where good looks are valued highly and your teeth play an important role in conveying that image. Teeth are used in the game of flirtations, whether it be a dazzling and gleaming smile or affectionate necking. These dreams may stem from a fear of your sexual impotence or the consequences of getting old. Teeth are an important feature of our attractiveness and presentation to others. Everybody worries about how they appear to others. Caring about our appearance is natural and healthy.

Another rationalization for these falling teeth dream may be rooted in your fear of being embarrassed or making a fool of yourself in some specific situation. These dreams are an over-exaggeration of your worries and anxiety.

Teeth are used to bite, tear, chew and gnaw. In this regard, teeth represent power. And the loss of teeth in your dream may be from a sense of powerlessness. Are you lacking power in some current situation? Perhaps you are having difficulties expressing yourself or getting your point across. You feel frustrated when your voice is not being heard. You may be experiencing feelings of inferiority and a lack of self-confidence in some situation or relationship in your life. This dream is an indication that you need to be more assertive and believe in the value of your own opinion.

In the latest research, it has been shown that women in menopause have frequent dreams about teeth. This may be related to getting older and/or feeling unattractive and less feminine.

Traditionally, it was thought that dreaming that you did not have teeth, represent malnutrition which may be applicable to some dreamers.

    Other Perspectives

A scriptural interpretation for bad or falling teeth indicate that you are putting your faith, trust, and beliefs in what man thinks rather than in the word of God. The bible says that God speaks once, yea twice in a dream or a vision in order to hide pride from us, to keep us back from the pit, to open our ears (spiritually) and to instruct and correct us.

In the Greek culture, when you dream about loose, rotten, or missing teeth, it indicates that a family member or close friend is very sick or even near death.

According to the Chinese, there is a saying that your teeth will fall out if your are telling lies.

It has also been said that if you dream of your teeth falling out, then it symbolizes money. This is based on the old tooth fairy story. If you lose a tooth and leave it under the pillow, a tooth fairy would bring you money.

So it means pretty much everything then.

  • One interperetation I agree with is that dreaming of losing teeth represents a fear that you are losing something that is very stable and neccesary in your life, which you depend on greatly (your home, job, loved one, teeth, etc...)
