iTunes static

Whenever play music on iTunes, there is a static noise. If I turn the iTunes volume setting down, it is louder. Yet if I play music on Windows Media Player, there is no static, so obviously something is wrong with iTunes.Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong?

    I have the same problem only it happens on certain cd rips that i have done for itunes. Any thoughts how I can correct this?

    turn off the EQ/Sound Enhancer
    some cds that are mastered really loud (+7) get pushed beyond 'the 0' when you add an eq to them. That should help. Good luck.

    I tried it, it didn't work perfectly but it got rid of about 80% of the static. thanks!
