I once tallied up a total from record buy and did my usual $4+$6's and $1+$9, etc to even it out. The seller called this method "voodoo math" and the name has stuck.
Using it in the real world trips some cashiers up. The girl at our local Starbucks can barely calculate $2.50 - $2.15, I've been working on her math with her.
