Washington DC, what's really good

I'll be in the DC area this wed through saturday, what's good out there?i've never been there but i'm looking to check out good record stores andalso night spots. where's the go-go at? I've heard chuck brown still plays in the city. . .?is there anthing that goes on Thurs or Friday nights that I shouldn't miss?Also, I'm staying at the Hotel Monaco on F street if that helps. Any info ismuy appreciado.
