  • How is this different than the religious dogma fed to kids? Oh yeah, the difference is, she speaks the truth.

I have no idea who O'Reilly & Olberman are but this was awesome!

It just might very well be the truth. And just because religious groups do it. Wrong is wrong...

And getting a 8 year old to spew ur ideology is fucked up.

I do like how she disses religon tho and has the crosses behind her.

  • How is this different than having your kids recite anything else like the 10 commandments or the pledge? It's not like she's talking about porn or getting high. I fail to see what's wrong with this. Can you break it down for me?

Generally anyone that uses children to send a message is just using them as a shield for criticism. That being said I don't think that's what's happening with this video. The director is just trying to be cute. She makes a good point about empathy but doesn't the church teach a lot about empathy? I haven't gone to church since I was a little kid so I don't know.

"Won't somebody think of the children?"

    Right.

I'd be saying the same thing if the little gurl was talking about looking to god for the truth and if you don't listen, he'll come down and smite you.

    Anywayz...

Animals that are better than you.

  • So then you would agree that having children recite religious passages or the pledge of allegience is the same thing.

    LOL @ animals.

So then, you believe it's fine to use children in any[/b] of the ways we are talking about? You either do or you don't.

And of course I agree it's the same thing. But I've never stated that one was OK or the other wasn't.

This use of a child is wrong. Can you agree with that?

It's an ad for a band so it's obviously a marketing thing (that works apparently). I think it's wack to use kids to spout adult's views no matter who's doing it. Let them figure out their beliefs and views (with guidance, of course).

I can't call it either way but I respect the rights of parents to program their kids. That's what parents do. I may not agree with what they teach them, but that's the beauty, or not, of freedom.

edit: after seeing day's comment, that's what I meant about not calling it. Not enough context.

    Exactly!

Plus i like how sincere & open (albeit scripted) this girl is talking, i've never witnessed that with children spouting off religious (or any other doctrine/myth based) ideologies (which looks more brainwashed to me).
