My Stereo done blowed up

I have a Harmon Kardon 3470 that I absolutely love. Anyway, a couple nights ago I am listening and the protect came on and the speakers shut off. I turned the speakers back on and after about 10 seconds the speakers clicked off again. I turned them back on and a got a small white flash and a puff a smoke came out of the top. Dang. I opened her up and could see nothing melted or charred. It still powers up, but as soon as you select an input or turn the speakers on, it clicks and the protect comes on.Anybody have an idea what happened? I am thinking my raers caused the speaker relay to short out. I am going to have it fixed but was wondering what kind of ballpark figure I am looking at if anyone knows what might be going on with it.
