I just bought 2 x Western Digital Scorpio 120gig drives, and put them in Stysen enclosures. 2.5", fast, no fuck ups, cheap, good warranty...

    peace.

  • i still just use my internal, but i djed with a guy the other night that travels a lot and stuff, and he was using the second one you have there... he said he swears by it, so i was thinking about getting one... link to bad reviews?... anyone else have a good or bad experience with one of those?... i was about to buy one tomorrow!... might have to do a little more research

I'll cosign on Sheep's Western Digital recommendation. Just bought a 250 gB WD drive. One of my friends recommended Lacie as well, but after learning that they are using crappy Maxtor drives now, I quickly moved away from that. I have a 80 gB Maxtor disk from a few years back that has given me nothing but trouble. Lost some valuable data with that one

I use the Lacie d2 250G w/fire-wire and had it for one year. No problems. I like the idea and look of the "all terrain" model, but they are too small. I think 160g is the biggest? Matter of fact, I'm about to bump up to the 1TB for the house and keep the 250g jawn for the road.

The d2 has a nice aluminum body and can stand up vertical or take the base off and lay it horizontal. It's great for travel and can take a beating.

And yes I've also heard bad things about the Porsche model.

    Not a fan of Western.

Oh and I have only been using it for the dildo for 2 months.

I recently picked up the d2 and have had no problems ... in fact I like it very much. It supports FireWire 800 (which at least the new MacBook Pros finally have).

Its only the Porsche designed Lacie drives that are the trouble makers. Here is more testimony to that effect:

So stay away from the Porsche drives and you'll be fine.

A friend of mine has this

    http://www.lacie.com/products/product.htm?pid=10731

With 2 hard drives in it. It's pretty crazy, tho expensive too.

But damn... "FireWire bus-powered, there???s no need for a cumbersome AC adapter*"

    Thats crazy!

I got a couple of 400 gig Seagate eSata drives. Love them! 3 gig transfer rate!! 5 year warr.
