Spanky Wilson first came to the attention of funk freaks around 10 years ago when Jelly Jazz, and indeed other funk nights around the country, picked up on her seminal recordings on Mother Records. Two tracks in particular had dancefloors going bonkers, the stomping sister soul belter 'You' and the funkiest version ever of 'Sunshine Of Your Love'. The 45's commanded big money and her LP even more!Fast forward to 2006 and now we have Spanky back in the world of funk, a new LP recorded with Quantic and legions of fans yet to be converted! You have to admire Quantic and his dedication and drive, he has been collaborating with many artists recently but to go the whole hog and record a full LP with such a legend is inspiring. The album 'I'm Thankful' is now out on Tru Thoughts.The band are on a full UK tour at all the best funk and soul clubs, demand is already looking huge across the country and rightly so. We're still pinching ourselves and thinking 'have we really got Spanky coming to Jelly??!!' YES!Tickets will be on the door for this live show and early arrival is recommended.
