Prior to reading this, I didn't give much thought to why I never seem to give repeated plays to certain CDs, even those I like. I'd be curious to know the thoughts of the pro/am beatmaker/engineer community up in here on this topic. When I'm messing around with beats, I tend to compress certain sources, such as breaks, quite a lot, but I'm wary of going too crazy with it. I could do with some useful mastering tips if anyone's in the mood to share.

    yeah, this loudness issue is why i can't listen to most major label "pop" stuff. It just bleeds my ears...the sonics have just become so piercing.

    I was gonna post this the other day... Very good read. It was funny that they mentioned the Primo/ Agelrera joint cause that was case in point of a joint I thought was aiight but hurt my ears..
