NYC Rock Bands & their bangin' female vocalists

so we get all sorts of myspace friend requests, from dudes like Larry and bedroom producer #20303448, but the ones that have been catching my eye lately are these NYC rock acts with incredibly hot female leads... can anyone shed some light on this phenomenom? why hasn't this trend spread to Chicago? are they simply eye candy or is there talent behind the behind?
