Ultimate Breaks & Beats Vol. 8 tracklist?

Somebody posted most of the UBBs up on Usenet a week or two back and now I'm going through and labelling everything all nice like... Anybody know what the hell the tracklist of volume 8 is? Anybody even know what the deal with that one is? Unlike all the other volumes this one seems to be some mid-80's music rather than old stuff that had breaks. All I can find is song titles and no artists associated with the tracks. This is what it lists:1) The Way of Life (S. Brighton & J. Cannon)2) Touch Me (All Night Long) (P. Adams & D. Carmichael)3) Infatuation (W.Negron)4) Precious and Special (J.J.Jarrett)I've also seen a completely different tracklisting for volume 8; anybody know the deal on this? I know volumes 7 & 8 were pulled from stores for whatever reason back in the day.

Yeah, I don't have UBB 8 so I'm not sure
which version is on it, but Cathy had the hit.

Cheapo's is moving into the old Skippy White's space -
I'm hoping the move shakes out a few records that have
been hidden away ... they were killing it early this summer
with the cheap raers, but lately I've been walking out
empty handed on the reg. R*b's been away, too, so that
    may be one reason.

Already been there, and if you check volume 8 it just has song titles, which is even less information than came in the info file with the mp3's. That page has been good for the rest of the volumes though.

  • is volume 8 the black one? i have that one on wax.

but it not the same tracklistings as your first post.

That is not the real Vol. 8 you have there. That's a fake version that was pressed up i guess in the early 90s maybe... "ultimate beats and breaks" or some such backwards schitt. Dance music, not breaks. You need the real vol 8 with Manzel "Midnight Theme" etc. if you want yo schitt to be official like a referee with a whistle.

Actually the track listing above is an altered updated version of the original Volume 8. The true track listing from the Octopus Breaks series (which was pressed in very small numbers on the street beat label before the reel which held that volume was either lost or destroyed) was more like this:

    Babe Ruth - The Mexican
    Eastside Connection - Frisco Disco
    Jesse Green - Flip
Wild Sugar - Bring It Here
The Meters - Hand Clapping Song
    Manzel - Midnight Theme
Freddie Perren (From the cooley high Soundtrack) - Two Pigs and a Hog
Marva Whitney - Its My Thing

Marva Whitney - Its My Thing

    This looks correct.

  • official like a referee with a whistle.

    Oh schitt!

"aaaaaaaah, once again it's official like a referee with a whistle..."

Dude sounded like a combination of Professor X and Walt Frazier.

is volume 8 the black one? i have that one on wax.

but it not the same tracklistings as your first post.

I have this one as well, but it looks like a booty/strange press (made in canada). I also have the more discoish version with the four tracks of number 8 only with a sticker on the cover. There must be some article online though that explains it all...waxpoetics covered it as well in the first issue methinks....
