Ain't no way they will ban this movie in America, but it ain't going to be getting play at your local AMC, thats for sure
Of course not. "Banning" is not at all the same thing as commercial theater chains declining to screen it.
Banned? Never. Outcry from some? Yes.
Yeah I pretty much see it that way too. It will be interesting to see the reaction it gets here in the US by the leftys and libs but the conservative reaction is beyond predictable.
to my knowledge, i can't recall ever hearing about a movie (or even book) that ever dealt with the actual assasination of a sitting president. there are a ton of movies that deal with the assasinations of fictious presidents, but never the actual president.
i also can't recall a movie that dealt with the assasination of any sitting leader. even during the coldwar days, i don't recall movies about assasinating the current leader of a country.
point is, at first glance, this movie seems a little hard to swallow on the responsible/proper tip. i am not one to drum up talk about crazy zealots, but i would think if a person would try to kill the president over Jodi Foster, perhaps a movie showing what could come about after the "assasination" of an unfavorable president may get some people thinking...
that said, i don't think the film makers are just trying to try to shock people. Under GW the world seems to have changed a lot (especially here in the US), so the question of what would happen if he were "forceably" removed may seem interesting to ask. Just not sure if we should go down this path of depicting our leaders being killed and then pondering the good/bad effects that my result of that action.
i can think of about 55 million people.
I wouldn't assume that everyone who didn't vote for GWB would enjoy seeing a movie in which he was killed.
I've heard no talk whatsoever about banning or altering this movie.
