Can you recycle VHS tapes?

Anyone around here know anywhere in LA to recycle old VHS tapes? I don't have a ton but I feel bad throwing these in the trash where they'll end up in a landfill.

    Get access to a bulk machine, run the tapes through it, and give them to thrift stores.
