Out on Acid Jazz Records in June, this is a compilation of covers by present-day bands playing the authentic late 60s/early 70s funk and soul sound - serving as the first all-round introduction to the very small 'new funk' scene that exists today. Many of these bands appear regularly at my weekly funk night, which shares the same name as this album. The album's launch party is on Thursday June 2nd:The album track listing is as follows:01. The Organites - Hot, Funky & Sweaty 02. The Neapolitans (feat The Essentials) - Crosstown Traffic 03. The Soul Investigators - Hung Up 04. The New Mastersounds - Zambezi 05. • London launch party cancelled (for now)[/b]

To all HF&S supporters, soul & funk 45 fans

It comes with great regret to announce the cancellation of the Hot, Funky & Sweaty album launch, that was to have taken place on June 02 at the Salmon & Compass, Angel, London.

Ongoing, overdue building work means that the venue will not able to open in time for that date.

We???re absolutely gutted about having to cancel this show ??? it???s taken about six months to get the line-up in place.

The launch party will instead take place sometime in July or August ??? it???s too early to say exactly when, but we???ll keep you posted.

We apologise to everyone for any inconvenience caused, especially to the bands involved ??? it???s like one of those Property Ladder TV shows where the builders create nightmare upon nightmare...

Other HF&S dates for June should still be going ahead. They include guest DJ appearances by: Dean Rudland, Tobias Kirmayer and the mainland Europe album launch in Amsterdam, on June 10. (see http://www.hotfunkyandsweaty.co.uk/thisweek.html for details)

Of course the album itself is still on target for an early June release, in all good music shops on Acid Jazz Records. Nothing???s gonna get in the way of that!

    Thanks for your continued support.
