Anyone in Hartford? need info to help philly kids

next friday we are trying to split our 8 hour drive to vermont in half and stay in hartford ovenight. i'll be with 7 teens from our youthworks program.maybe one other staff person. solid youths.need info on floor to sleep on, state parks to camp in, etc. in hartfor area!unfortunately, we got no ends.holllllllllllllllllller!thanks, tony

Anywhere but Hartford is the plan! If you're going Rte 6/44 I think there are some nice state parks around the CT/RI border. Lakes n stuff. Gets wilder if you go up Mass Pike way.

The only state park I've been to even remotely close to Hartford is Hammonasset State Park/Beach--

A little out of your way though--you'd need to drive past New Haven, then double back to catch 91N the next morning. That said, it's not a bad place to stop.
