That was you?? I saw that auction when
it was new, remembered to check a few days later
and saw it had just ended at $6...I was
It's just okay. I wish I could say it was more loner folk but alas it's more jangly singer songwriter folk...
I saw that too and it really pissed me off, I can't buy anything right now.
it sucks, worth about the dollar I spent on it. nice upright bass intro on one track and a dope sleeve and thats bout it...
Tell us where you got'em so I know what spots were cleaned out,
so I won't waste my time aiight!
The Easy Street St. Fair...
You mean the garbage pile they haul out for the W. Seattle thang.
Man I gotta stop overlooking spots!
this one was in the bana lp...so no cover. but this has the track "love's a real thing" which is the title cut for that recent african psych/funk comp on luaka bop.
a french cover version of "frisco disco"!? but the real joint is "love beads".
I think this series is actually recordings from south america, pressed in France - but intended for the african market - rhumas, mambos & so forth.

But from three weeks of travelling - literally cross country in late june through the middle of july.
just now got around to taking a few pics.
At least 12 cities.
Lots of fun with a week siesta in california from any heavy digging- at the beach instead.
Here's some of the highlites, but maybe 100+ more albums and some good 45's as well not pictured.
I must briefly shout out to the following for hospitality and connecting up-mylatency, hermie a.k.a hotsauce, jinx74, francislai, coolchris, peacefulrotation, and a handful of internet unknowns b/c they're too busy finding records. THANKS!

I rocked that "Key to Nowhere" on the way to work this morning, could still use a copy. Serious batch of records there, Ar*!!!
key to nowhere is really beautiful. i don't know if you could quite say that you "rocked it" though....
it was the ann peebles lp that actually made me think of you drew...
LP on Island.
12 came with the Upsetters Disco Bum sleeve and was on the green yellow and red Black Art Label. Jamaican press of the LP (Black Art) is title Super Eight.

A couple of nice digs this week
Gorgeous early Rita Marley soul cut. Looks nice next to Jackie Mittoo's "Got MY Bugaloo".
Yet another reason never to doubt JA's ability for gorgeous soul cuts. Shame these never made it to a wider audience.
High quality Treasure ISle production - you see TIS in the matrix, you buy.
Basically the early incarnation of the Upsetters...whom were very good.
Gotta love it when the investigative work is done for you. Think it's an accurate assessment? I do. Yet another testament to the innovation of JA music - who else was releasing stuff like this?????
Bizarre surfy/latin side backed with a seemingly ska tune. My instincts tell me these guys were from Guyana.
Today was a good day. Only the 3rd known copy of this ever to surface in the city (and I've found 2 of them with 0our friend Paul E Styrene finding the other...and selling it to Josh) Raw Caribbean/Canadian? deep funk 45 coupled with a increasingly adored soul flip.
Had never heard this before. It's tight. JA guys love it for the ballad flip.
Deadly CDN original and an unsung chapter in career.
I can't wait to flex this on a soundsystem. I must have listened to it 5-6 times at the dudes house...thus hurting my bargaining position, but I didn't care I needed my fix. "You like that, eh?" Has King tubby written ALL over it - listen to the part at the end where the dub starts - it seems to get louder.
You're nothing without MElody in the calypso collection. Doesn't hurt that these are all 60's LP's backed by the likes of Trinidadian diety's such as Cyril Diaz,Frankie Fredericks, and Nat Hepburn.
I like this stuff
