So it's been hot weather here lately in London and a great World Cup nearly drawing to a close but hey, what a great tournament it's been so far! Big respect to the German organisers, it's been first class.... It's been tough playing in that heat but that kind of thing has not stopped the Happy Jazz boys! We have taken on liquid refreshment's, fired up the creole sausage sarnies (with brown sauce, naturally) and delved head first into extra time. It's a hot selection that quite frankly, leaves you wanting to book 2 days into an ice hotel to stop yourself sizzling! With music from Barbados, Martinique, Brazil, Ethiopa, Colombia, Peru and Uruguay in the first hour alone, it's music to get Alan Whickers Knickers in a twist! Luckily, ol' Alan can slow down and take stock with an unbelievable version of Niama via Carsten Meinert. It's one of hell of an LP and you will be hearing more from that in the coming months. Hour 2 see's Mark expertly blend some new styles with the old and of course, some more of those "never heard before, never will hear again" obscure Brazilian cuts.Great cuts such as Jack Van Poll's "Eighty One" and Luisito Quintero's "Our Love" in there too.
