I confess, more than half of these are"mailbox finds" but the net has been comingthrough much better than the locals lately:Tate and Exciters scratched off the list, both hooked up byStrutters, both excellent soul albums. Thanks to Mike B for the Tate, and thanks to Good Records NYC for a few of these records...on the local tip, the Earl King is a Charly set of unreleased 1972 sessions recorded for Sansu with Allen Toussaint & the Meters on all tracks, dope shit. Everly Brothers is a real gem, recorded in UK with the Hollies backing themup, a seriously fantastic LP with all kinds of styles from fuzzedout rock to bossa nova to the classic EB harmony sound. This 45 is monster psychedelic soul If you don't own it, you need it. Won this for a third of where my snipe was set--always good when that happens.
Top left is weird christian poetry from Ric Masten, Lower left is local Dallas Jazz LP by Kenny Pore
The Jiri Stivin is surprisingly good prog/jazz/psych with lots of guitar and effects
That's a chill record. Nice price too. I can't really get with the off-key harmonies but the production is great.
Pulled these in a certified big dude trade a couple days ago:
Jon Lucien- I am Now (rca)
B.B. King- Live + Well (Bluesway)
Chi-Lites- Give more Power to the People (Brusnwick)
Richard Davis- Song for Wounded Knee (Flying Dutchman)
Pointer Sisters- s/t (Blue Thumb)
Bobby Hutcherson- Linger Lane (Blue Note)
Jackson 5- Skywriter (Motown) (this is not the best Jacksons record)
and from Mo Rocky Mole (thanks holmmie!):
Laura Allen- Reflections (hippy goddess record)
Emitt Rhodes- s/t
Looks to be in great shape too. This cover would make a dope t-shirt.

Cover rinked but record nice. Always a nice score for a buck
Fred Neil buddy goes a similar route as his partner on a late 60s Capitol release with some long psych folk jamming
My favorite Fahey. Earlier release not usually seen in these parts. Track 2 "When the Springtime Comes Again" is very pretty
Cute pop psych arranged by Roger Nicholls of Roger Nicholls & the Small Circle of Friends fame
Looks like early 70s private steez from Michigan that turned out a little better than I expected. mp3 A turd to some for sure but I am feeling this
eBay buy-it-now. clean US presses of this are just hard to find. Aussies loved it though. Always Aussie copies out the ass
Finally thanks to Dan g for the hookup on this long time want
k IN Canada.
I have a Earl King 45 on Listening POst with "Mama and Papa" on it. Says it was released in 1978 but sounds way too funky for then. Could this be the same sessions? Shit is dope. Are the rest of the tunes that good?
Yes. That song is on this Charly LP.
Pretty much. A few are better!
I've been getting TONS of great Euro 60s/70s club stuff and longtime wants off the bay recently. Maybe I'll list them. Maybe not. In any case, here's an interesting $1 fleamarket score from today:

Is this the same as the rockabilly Johnny Powers? Anyone heard of this one before?
I think it's the same dude that recorded on Sun.......here is a photo of him with some weird looking Rockabilly dude!!
"In 1960, Johnny was asked to meet with Barry Gordy. He later became the first white artist signed to Motown Records and the only artist in history to have recorded for both, Sun Records and Motown Records."
of his rockabilly stuff, some of which is quite good.
Doesn't have that track, though - I wish it did.

Not sure. No info on the back of the sleeve as to what instrument he plays. He's Ghanian and the record is from 1978. Mostly highlife with the exception of the one afrobeat track.

Smokey Robinson & the Miracles - Special Occasion (I had no copy of this record before. I was an idiot. If you find yourself without this LP, buy it immediately)
David McCallum - Music: A Bit More of Me (I knew I'd eventually cop this for cheap. A one-tracker, as we all know)
Tim Hardin - 1 (I am about to find out if this is shit or not. Hype both ways demands I be the arbitor)
Henry Cow - Leg End (I keep seeing the cover all over the place. How can I pass up crochet, writ large, like that?)
John Coltrane - Coltrane's Sound
Xaviera Hollander - Xaviera! (Lovage samples that were too good to pass up)
and
Silver Apples - s/t (With poster, all minted up.)
I've never heard of this record before, but if that photo is any indication, that can't be the rockabilly Johnny Powers. Doesn't look like the same man. Even when you add twenty years.
Nina Simone "Come Ye" is melting my face right now. Got to hear that again and again and again.
Nice!
also picked up The God Squad Jesus Christ Greatest Hits on Rare Earth who else has this?dope funky gospel.
and some other shit that i cant remember right now...Hubert Laws Rite of Spring,Lenny Williams,Billy Eckstine etc.
