Digital Camera Strut (Revisited)

I couldn't find old threads about digital cameras that there have been in the past, but I'm looking for some advice. I'm trying to replace my fading, older Canon Powershot. Price range I'd say is around $350 max. I've been really happy with the quality of the pics from my Canon, but am searching for other brands to consider. Or are Powershots just the way to go still?What kind of digital camera are you using right now?Would you recommend it to someone else?Would you go a different route on your next purchase?

Just looking for a little bit of direction. The best way to take a bite out of this elephant instead of trying to swallow the whole thing at once.
