I was listening to the CD 101 smooth jazz station recently and I heard a "SmoothJazz" cover of Slick Rick's Teenage Love. This actually translated well. I might cop on tha low. Whatever. On top of the Hidden Beach hip hop tributes it seems jazz cats are incorporating hip hop more frequently. I was checkin BETJAZZ on cable and some corny dude was at some corny island jazz fest, interviewing this young horn player. They switch to a clip of this cat and his band doing some hip hop cover ala early Roots. It sounded whack to me but I was still curious about this shit. My hommie's mom listens to this strain of "SmoothJazz" but she cant mess w/ most of today's Hip Hop.Kinda wierd IMO. I'm just ramblin'/wondering. Will there be a smooth jazz album that penetrates the HipHop charts? The RH Factor Lp features alot of knitted cap mofos.
